Runways and Apron

Turweston has both tarmac (licensed) and grass (unlicensed) runways designated 09/27 and 09/27 grass respectively. The circuits are 09 - left hand and 27 - right hand. The tarmac runway is 915 x 18m with a declared distance of 799m. The 09 threshold is displaced by 85m; the 27 threshold by 30m.

There is ample parking available on our tarmac apron and, best of all, no charge for daytime parking, so you can stay all day! If you would like your aircraft to spend the night we can accommodate that too or perhaps it would like to stay here permanently; we are always pleased to welcome new arrivals (space permitting of course). Geographical Position

Noise Abatement

There are several villages and dwellings located close to the airfield. Please follow our noise abatement procedures carefully and avoid overflying the indicated areas. Fuel / Refuelling Services

Avgas 100LL (£1.61/L net), UL91 (£1.51/L net), Jet A1 (£0.86/L net) and piston-engine oils are available. Fuel is delivered to you by mobile bowser. Rotors running refuelling available on request. Prices last updated17th January 2012.

Operating Hours (LOCAL times)

Turweston aerodrome’s operating hours for flying are:

08:00 – 20:00 Monday to Friday

09:00 – 18:00 Saturday

10:00 – 16:00 Sunday and bank holidays (landings allowed up to 18:00)

The Aerodrome is licensed between 09:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday (during summer months; 09:00 to sunset in the winter) and 09:00 to 18:00 Saturdays. The Aerodrome may be licensed outside these hours if prior arrangement is made with the Duty Officer.

Akki Aviation Services: JAR 145 CAA M3 approved.

Caseright Maintenance: EASA 145 approved / authorised Cirrus Service Centre.

Services provided include repair and maintenance, avionics testing, interior refurbishments and more.

Customs and Special Branch

All pilots flying outside the mainland UK are required to complete a General Aviation Report. Instructions for completion and submission can be viewed here. Pilots flying within the Common Travel Area should email completed GARs to NCU, the UK Border Agency at Luton, Special Branch, Thames Valley Police and EGBT here. Pilots flying in Europe (both EU and non-EU countries) should email completed GARs to NCU, the UK Border Agency at Luton and EGBT here. AFPEX / Flight Plans

A flight plan must be filed for flights going to or from the UK. Instructions for completing the VFR flight plan can be viewed here. The VFR flight plan form can be completed here and faxed to 01489 612793 or emailed to Turweston or completed via AFPEx online.

Café

Join us for a cup of tea and a generous bacon buttie – The Flying Pig café is open Monday to Friday 12:00 to 15:00 and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 15:00. Outside these hours visitors can purchase drinks and snacks from the Turweston Flight Centre office and enjoy them in the cafe conservatory or, if it is not in use, in our conference room. Trains and Automobiles

Bicester North and Banbury are our closest railway stations. There are also main line stations at Northamtpon, Oxford and Milton Keynes.
